WorkMoreHuman was born out of a passion for culture evolution; if you get culture right, everything else will follow. Lisa Shuster, Founder and President, was fascinated as a young business professional by what motivates people to do what they do — long before the concept of “employee engagement” caught on. Lisa spent her career creating engaged workplaces through intentional culture initiatives and progressive people practices. Following many years working within companies as an HR leader, Lisa recognized that many businesses and organizations did not have access to the necessary HR leadership to make them competitive from a recruiting, retention, and motivation standpoint — resulting in wasted time and money, disengagement and ultimately, the loss of valuable employees. For that reason, she launched WorkMoreHuman in 2016 to offer her knowledge, skill, and expertise as a human resources consultant, especially to small businesses.
Lisa believes you benefit from an engaged workforce when employees are clear on their purpose (organizationally and individually), are positioned in the right jobs with clearly defined outcomes, have the autonomy to achieve their results in the manner best suiting them, are appropriately incentivized, and have the opportunity to learn and grow.

About WorkMoreHuman Founder and President, Lisa Shuster
Lisa has 20 years’ experience serving as an HR Leader at companies large and small in a number of sectors, including technology, business services, finance, healthcare, e-commerce, nonprofit, and government contracting. Most recently, she was Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Administrative Officer at a nationally recognized job board. As a result of her focus on culture and employee engagement, Lisa has helped many employers gain recognition as an Employer of Choice/Best Place to Work.
Lisa is a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR); she holds a B.S. in Education from Towson University; an M.S. in Human Resources and an MBA, both from the University of Maryland. She has attended Zappos’ Culture Boot Camp and participated in the Center for Creative Leadership’s Leadership Development Program.
Lisa is an active board member of the Frederick County (Md.) chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), helping to serve and advance the HR profession in Frederick County. She additionally serves on the board of Woman to Woman Mentoring, Inc., a local non-profit whose mission is to cultivate mentoring relationships and provide young women with guidance, support, and community connections.
